Medical Proteomics

Studierende im Labor

The module "Medical Proteomics" is mandatory for students in the 3. semester of the Master programme (Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences). It consists of a lecture, a seminar and a lab course.

The module will focus on the tools employed for proteome analysis and their applications for medical biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. The course includes electrophoretic and chromatographic separations methods like 2D gel electrophoresis, capillary electrophoresis and HPLC. Modern mass spectroscopy methods will be presented and how they are used in conjunction with protein and DNA databases to study complex proteomic samples. Applications will include mining, protein expression profiling, protein netwok mapping and posttranslational modificationGelvergleichs.

Note
Nitrile gloves are needed in this practical course. Please note that if more gloves than necessary are used each student has to bring its own gloves to the lab!
