City Facts
Called “largest village of Scotland”, Dundee is located on the banks of the River Tay in the Northeast of Scotland. The city is situated between mountains and lochs in the west and miles of coastline in the east. With a population of 150,000 it is rather small and yet big enough for a nice range of cultural and leisure activities including theaters, arts, a number of clubs, pubs and restaurants as well as outdoor activities like hill-walking, water rafting, surfing and sailing. Additionally, Dundee is not only Scotland’s sunniest city, it also has a history of invention and innovation: The first street lights and the postage stamp - to mention only two examples - come from Dundee! In 2005, Dundee was named the most cost effective Scottish city for students and it still is one of the cheapest university cities.
