Robert Gordon University

The exchange program

Students will earn a Bachelor of Honours (BSc Hons) for successfully completing their 5th and 6th rgu-liffe sciencesemester at Robert Gordon University Aberdeen. The exchange program with the RGU is the longest-standing of all our partnerships. More than 80 students have so far taken part in this very well established exchange program. Some students chose to stay just for one semester, omitting the double degree. Since 2010 the exchange program is open not only for students of the Applied Biology program but also for students of Forensic Science.

The degree

A double degree is possible for a two-semester stay: A Bachelor (Hons) in Bioscience with Biomedical Science for Applied Biology students and the corresponding degree of Forensic Science for students of our Forensic program.

To qualify for the exchange program with Robert Gordon University you have to ...have passed all modules and courses of the first and second semester successfully and have passed our English courses or were considered fluent enough to choose a different language. The final admission is based on your performance during the 3rd and 4th semester!

University Facts

RGU LogoThe Robert Gordon University is a very young university that offers courses for students of both, the Applied Biology and the Forensic Sciences program. City Facts

Aberdeen - Scotland's third biggest city! It is situated along a long sandy coastline and proud location of the Robert Gordon University and the University of Aberdeen. With two big Universities located in one city it is very abundant in students (20,000 students). Of course that goes hand in hand with a vibrant night life, lots of bars, clubs and pubs.  You will be able to attend hundreds of different  local events that take place all year long or enjoy one of Aberdeen’s various museums, art galleries, cinemas, parks and open spaces. Aberdeen also is a very multicultural city and even hosts an international street market.  If you are into shopping just go and have fun at one of the city’s five shopping centers!

For those of you who love sports and the outdoors surfing off the Aberdeen coast will be lots of fun! You can also explore rural Aberdeenshire 5 min from city center or a National Park and the real Scottish Highlands, both of which are close by, too.

Things to consider

  • Teaching is in English.
  • In previous years Robert Gordon University has admitted 15 - 20 students from our Department.
  • There are tuition fees. Whether and under which conditions in future years a fee-waiver can be given to our students is uncertain.
  • Currently students can apply for funding in the PROMOS-program, yet this is competetive: not every student who takes part in the exchange will automatically be funded.
